In order to support and upgrade Taiwan’s national bio-based industry to have greater development in the biotechnology field, Taiwan government had recruited many outstanding overseas scholars to establish The Development Center for Biotechnology (DCB) of Taiwan in 1984.

In 2000, Taiwan Advance Bio-Pharmaceutical Incorporation (TABP) received the technology transfers and assets from DCB, including the related laboratories, factories, equipment, 7 key techniques, 34 products and 46 patents. TABP worked with The Biomembrane Institute(TBI) in the foundation of Glyconex Incorporation focused on the research of developing glycoprotein medication.
